🚓 NC04 Central Beat Weekly Round-Up 🚓

It's been another busy week for the NC04 Central Beat team, with officers continuing to tackle antisocial behaviour, support local businesses, and address problem locations across the city centre.

🚴 Sunday 23 August

Following intelligence that a large ride-out involving bicycles, e-bikes and scooters was being planned, officers from the Beat Team worked alongside colleagues from the Response Policing Team to take swift action.

✅ The coordinated response helped disrupt the gathering and minimise the potential impact of antisocial behaviour on residents, businesses and visitors to the city centre.

👮 Friday 21 August

Officers were temporarily abstracted to assist with a policing operation elsewhere in the force area.

Despite this additional commitment, the team returned to the city centre at the earliest opportunity and continued proactive patrols, maintaining a visible presence and engaging with members of the public. 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

🤝 Thursday 20 August

PC Tom and Sgt Zane met with representatives from Tesco to strengthen our ongoing partnership in tackling retail crime and shoplifting.

The meeting provided an opportunity to build upon existing relationships and meet new contacts within the organisation. By working closely with local businesses, we can continue to share information, identify emerging trends and work towards our shared goal of reducing theft and supporting retailers across Leicester city centre. 🏪

🏠 Ongoing Work

PC Georgie is currently progressing two Closure Order applications for properties within the beat area.

Closure Orders are an effective tool used to tackle addresses linked to crime, disorder and antisocial behaviour. By working with partners and the courts, we can help protect communities, reduce nuisance behaviour and improve the quality of life for local residents. 📋⚖️

⚡ Operation PedalFast Update ⚡

Today, #OpPedalFast was conducted with the valued support of officers from other Beat Teams. 🚔

🛴🚲 The operation tonight has seen double-figure seizures of illegally used e-scooters and e-bikes, with the operation still running at the time of writing.

❗ A quick reminder: before riding any vehicle on the road, ensure it is legal and insured where required. Privately owned e-scooters cannot be used on public roads, pavements or cycle paths, as insurance is not available for their use in these locations. ✅ Check the law before you ride.
